For Grand Prix week in Montréal, 2025, we built a film for the Ritz-Carlton Montréal that passed 500,000 views: the hotel wrapped in a giant red stage curtain with a gold “Ritz Royale” sign, and a Formula 1 car tearing down Sherbrooke Street to make the reveal. Nothing was closed, no car was rented.
The brief
Own Grand Prix weekend on social with one film that says “the Ritz is the place to be”, without closing a street or renting a car.
How it was made
The plate is a phone clip of the hotel corner in late-afternoon light. The curtain was simulated as cloth with its ropes rigged to the facade, the gold sign was modelled in 3D, and the F1 car was animated through the intersection with motion blur matched to the plate. A final pass matched the reflections on the car and the sign to the real sky. It was made for social: vertical, sound on, the car in the first second. The full case study is on the Ritz-Carlton F1 page.
What an event-timed stunt needs
- A date you cannot move. The film has to be live while the event is the conversation, so plan backwards from the first day.
- A real plate of your venue. The real building anchors the effect and makes it feel local.
- A payoff in the first second. The car arrives straight away, so the scroll stops.
- Approval before rendering. We agree the concept and storyboard first, so the days before the event are not spent on revisions.
The numbers
More than 500,000 views, as a rounded count across social posts. We design for attention and do not guarantee views.
